Material State Management™ (MSM)



AvPro's approach to advanced composites processing is based on the progressive Material State Management (MSM) system.  Using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, control sensors, and control software, MSM grants insight to critical material properties in real-time.





Due to its progressive nature, MSM is reliant upon collaborative efforts between multiple companies.  A great example of this is the development of the ATD Encapsulated Specimen Rheometer (ESR).  The ATD ESR combines the respective technologies of AvPro and Alpha Technologies.  The ATD ESR is a rheometer unlike any other on the market.  The instrument is designed specifically to test full composite prepregs throughout all stages of cure.



Acceptance standards are outdated -- written with old technologies, decades ago.  These specifications are written based on a time-tempeature-pressure box; that is, parts are accepted becuase they have been in an autoclave at a certain temperature for a certain time.  Consequenlty, part properties are merely assumed.  MSM not only provides a means of getting outside that box, but also enables reduced cost with higher part quality confidence.
